what an absolute load of shite coverage from them, why do l pay for non existant coverage. Advertised as starting at 13.10 to find motorbikes over run, fair enough, but to completely eat into the entire slot is a piss take, they would rather broadcast the anylisis of the race rather than cut to the Tour of Flanders. l have yet to find studio anaylsis for our sport other than when the tour is on. Come in British Eurosport.... sort your act out

What is the point? I've been watching live uninterrupted coverage since the race started.http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=1929371&ch=2417736&src=ukeurosport

I agree with Big@l, if they ain't going to screen it just don't advertise it. It's always the same with cycling on Eurosport, year in year out regardless of the size of the race.I've lost count of the number of times I've come in from work and put the video on to find I've recorded hours of crown green bowling or similar. The online coverage isn't any better - Sunday afternoon and Virgin are struggling with bandwidth as per usual here in Leeds. Won't even load up for more than 10 seconds of play at the lowest setting even though apparently I'm on 8meg.Rubbish.PS In the entire time it's taken to find this thread, log in and post, check and edit this message the live coverage has advanced 2 or 3 seconds. Yay broadband.

the point is... that Eurosport have advertised it as being broadcast, and they havent even shown any coverage. While l understand that Live coverage is exactly that and can extend without any warning, but when do you see podium coverage of cycling events, or for that matter studio analysis. Only for the Tour. Why could they not cut to the Tour of Flanders in between races as they had advertised. l have been watching on Cycling tv, it just is not the same as sitting on your comfy sofa watching from the normal tv. I started to watch eurosports online coverage, where David Harmon, said that we will have to break now to go to the 2nd race of the motorbikes. it looks like even he did not know he was on airlike l say crap broadcasting from eurosport, why could they not show cycling on Eurosport 2?

watched on French Eurosport via Cyclingfans.com - great coverage over 3+ hours. Will use the same for Paris Roubaix next week.

Humph,Me thinks we need EUROCYCLESPORT TV.   Exclusive live coverage of every race and recorded highlights all night long. This comes of having a sport that takes up to 4 - 5 hours to reach the finish.   It cycling was over in less than 1 hour there wouldn't be a problem, but we all know a good race lasts longer.   You cant show the whole race every time, hence we get selected coverage,They have to try to please everyone. My neighbour is complaining that they don't show enough Crown Green Bowling on tv.   You cant win every time.

l agree with you totally Vlad, but what is so infuriating is the fact that it is advertised, but not shown at all, l didnt check back with Eurosport at 15.30, but the race had finished by then anyhowpoor showing

The problem with the great service of cycling.tv is, that the more popular it gets, the less likely Eurosport UK are to upgrade their crap coverage. The worst thing about Eurosport is that they tailor the coverage to meet the (perceived) demands of the UK audience, when 99% of the folk on here would actually prefer the European feed.Just wait until the TdF or Giro starts and you are watching their stage replay/highlights package and the results scrawls along the bottom of your screeen in their news bar. NOw that is annoying.Paris-Roubaix live on Free to Air for me next weekend. The benefits of having an Aussie winner last year!

Eurosport coverage of Milan-San Remo also had irritating ticker-tape news along the bottom for pretty much the entire broadcast.  Ronde van Vlaanderen scheduling being rescheduled at the last minute was very irritating, but what you have come to expect.  I now have 2 hrs of motorbike racing and rallycar driving on the DVD, combined with about 20 minutes of cycling!I blame it on the Kelly commentry.  A man with so much experience who makes the finer points of racing sound as interesting as the small print in a life insurance document...And whilst having a moan - check out cycling on the BBC site - still (on Monday morning) not a mention of Devolder's great ride on the main page.

Alais. We are nothing more but a speck in the great cosmos of sports.   Hence we get no coverage in tv or press.Except our own little mags and sites.   Lets all chip in and buy our own station and satalite.   Can any one ride a motorbike and does anyone have a video cam handy. ???????

What are you on about? We got loads of coverage yesterday. Nothing better for cycling's image than having 20 helmet-wearing bike police running along side Olympic athletes and then kicking protesters, and ITV News crews.

I don't know if the Red Buuton" interactive thing could be used. Just imagine how easy it could be for Eurosport. "If you want to follow the whole race LIVE, press your red button NOW" - wouldn't that be fantastic.Aparently British Eurosport have no control over Eurosport 2, as I have always thought it would be good to use that channel instead of watching HandBall. But I was lucky as I watched it on a big screen at the finish - and boy it was cold."

Oz - cyclingtv may be ok for you BUT look at the schedule of live races and see how many are N. America only over the next few weeks:-                          Paris Roubaix/Fleche Wallonne/Liege Bastogne Liege. With cyclingfans there's always a way to see a live race somehow albeit with a non English commentary

Ricco Zona
7th April 2008, 10:18 AM
I'm not too bothered about the commentary.

SO basically moto gp will eat into the coverage of Paris-Roubaix next weekend - and as far as I can see the only alternative is to try and see it on the web.Is there a way to get the french/dutch etc live broadcasts on in the UK?I know friends who used to move their sky dish and get football games not screened here live - would that be possible here?BTW I have looked at the eurosport website and cannot find anywhere a place to complain - email the bosses of eurosport - I find the website very poor.

Im just happy that we actually have eurosport with the limited coverage it has.If we still relied on BBC and ITV we would never have any cycling on.   It would all be the round ball game and Darts and horses.Adam.   NICE ONE MATE.

"but when do you see podium coverage of cycling events, or for that matter studio analysis. Only for the Tour."There was fairly extensive studio analysis on Eurosport during the world track championships.

I think the point is that advertising something as live and then showing the last 15 km is a waste of time and not what people are paying for.If they cant show live coverage as promised due to other sports or over runs then they should have an extensive highlights programme of say 90 minutes with how the race has unfolded over 30 minutes and the final hour of racing.I am sure most would be more than happy with that!

Dave can you not have words with the big people?l really like the coverage of Eurosport, when l can get it

David Harmon 2
7th April 2008, 7:04 PM
We can have words until we are blue in the face and often do.It's economics that drives which coverage takes priority and Superbikes have a bigger wallet.  The same with moto gp and tennis.  In addition the audience figures for motorbikes are much higher than for cycling in the UK.A lot of people suggest that if ES is having difficulties, why doesn't it just swith feed to ES2 but sadly that can't happen either because in fact ES2 is a totally different broadcasting platform.I sympathise, I really doDH

Ricco Zona
7th April 2008, 8:24 PM
Daveare there any options to go interactive with minority sports like Cycling? Also why not broadcast it live on the web in the UK. Next weekend is going to get crap coverage again because of the Marathon and various motosports. I appreciate it is a supply and demand thing but since the web live player sits there dormant surely wouldn't it be better to use it.Today was good as I caught the hi-lights show for Flanders and the Prem Calendar race also. Why don't one of the ES controllers make a comment. I prefer ES to CTV as I bought into it last year, and with a Mac service is shocking, and in a year there has been little improvement. I think if people thought that the service would be reliable and on time and that there programmes won't get cut short subscription WOULD GO UP!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Eurosport a free sky channel?? I must admit it was very annoying turning on the TV to find that the guys on motorbikes were still playing, but I just logged onto the net and watched it on there, no issue. I will do the same on Sunday should there be a problem again!

Ricco Zona
8th April 2008, 7:07 AM
Eurosport is free in the packages from Sky and Virgin, but I would guess that some of your subscription fee goes to paying for it. If you have Freeview or something of that ilk you will need to buy it as an upgrade. Now who do you fancy for Wednesdays race?

VLAD (the Yellow BAT)

It all depends if we can watch it really. Some reports think Cavendish has a chance as it could end with a bunch sprint..

Well they are showing Gent - Wevelgem today as follows:12:15Cycling: Tour of Flanders (Sport) Action from the 92nd Tour of Flanders from Belgium. The first of the "Spring Classics", this one-day road race is one of the "Monuments" of the European professional cycling calendar.Click here to try DigiGuide TV guide Live Cycling (Sport) Gent-Wevelgem. Action from the 70th Gent-Wevelgem from Belgium. Often referred to as the "sprinters classic" due to the flat terrain finish, this one-day race is the third Classic of the season.(Live)It then finishes at 1530 hours.

I saw today's race on Eurosport via a link from Cyclingfans. The commentary was in English but no Sean Kelly - is this the same broadcast that was shown on Eurosport via Sky? - or is this "Eurosport International"? - as I don't have Sky I'm not sure.

Ricco Zona
9th April 2008, 9:32 PM
Okay, who has some good links to websites for Sunday. I am being realistic now as I reckon the coverage will be cut on Eurosport and you'll be watching two hours of fly fishing instead.

Stuart Threlfall
9th April 2008, 10:23 PM
The coverage is rubbish because its not Eorosport, but British Boringsport, for the next 5 housr we're gonna watch some guys go around in circles on motorised bicycles. You need free satellite and get Eurosport from Astra1 or Hotbird (nothing to do with the Daily Star). Maplin sell dishes and pickup  that will enable you to get transmissions from both satellites using one dish. It'll be a bit bigger than a Sky dish. Anyway, Hotbird 13E has traditional Eurosport in digital in english. You could get a triple block for Astra 2D as well for Freesat when that starts. And no subscription fee, all worth it for watching for the millions of free German channels, South Park in Deutsch anyone?
