Hi, can anyone help?I am looking to upgrade and like the look of Specialized. I'm looking to spend around £1000-1500. I like the look of the tarmac elite but the roubaix elite is on offer at £200 less. Can anyone give a clue as to what is the difference between the two, are they any good, which one would suit me best, or are there better bikes out there for the money? I commute to work 10 miles, 3 times a week and the weekend blast 20-30 miles but want to take it a bit further.Any info would be appreciated.Gary

They're both pretty good bikes.  I used to have a Tarmac Comp but it was too big for me so I've got a slightly smaller S- Works Roubaix SL now.  The Roubaix has a more upright position thanks to a fairly long head tube and the geometry is less aggressive than a Tarmac.  The Roubaix also has a slightly longer wheelbase than a Tarmac too which softens the handling slighty.  Having said that both bikes are capable racing machines. If you're thinking of going down the racing route I'd consider the Tarmac.  If you're thinking of going down the sportive/endurance route I'd maybe consider the Roubaix.  It's vital that whatever bike you choose, you're compfy on it.The best thing to do would be to go and test ride both and see what you think.  You might not like either of 'em!!!

JJ pretty much hit the nail on the head with his reply. The roubaix is a little higher at the front and will be the more comfortable of the two, so if comfort is your priority, that's the best bike to get. if you want a head down racy approach though, the tarmac will flatter (as i found out when i tested the expert recently)
