Serious Cycling (Edmund Burke) is really good but then you have to be really committed to make it worth while

Depends how much you into the science thingJoe Friel's Training Bible is interesting - but drives you keep copious plans, notes and records - probably useful for really maximising potential, but a bit overkill otherwise.Mountain Bike Fitness Training is by John Metcalfe

lance armstrong has a book out- well co-written with chris carmichael his fitness trainer. can't remember the exact title even though it's on the book shelf at home.cycling specific. deals with all types of different riding styles, nutrition and exercises to improve your biking. it's strap line is that you'll be a better rider in 6 weeks. it's about a tenner from waterstones.
