I've just gone back to work after going down with pneumonia over Christmas. An old nurse has told me that I will probably keep coughing like a 60 a day man for the rest of the winter. My problem is that my stamina is absolutely shot.Christmas Eve I did a 40 mile ride as a pleasant 2 hours after work but now I can't even walk a mile without being absolutely knackered. Until this illness I generally did about 150 miles per week commuting and perhaps another 40 or so if I got the chance at the weekends.I know I shouldn't rush after this illness but its getting on for February. How long can I expect this state to last?

I had the same thing at the same time, over the holidays, I think it was caused by over training, I thought exercise was supposed to be good for you?

I think it was one of those bugs where having a good immune system counts against you because it turns against you.I was back on the bike in April but was only really fit towards the end of the month. Basically, it took nearly 4 months of this cycling year!Still, Macclesfield Bikeathon on June 12th. Weather forecase 18mph winds and 96% chance of rain.
