Miles, unless racing on the continent, then it's kms.

Although I prefer miles and they make more sense to me,  I use kilometers on the bike as its easier to compare speeds and distances in relation to most rides and fitness programs that appear in magazines, and 50 kilometers sounds better than 30 miles,at the end of the day what ever you use its easy enough to convert to something elsemind you, when I work out the fertilizer for the fields its always Kg per acre, bit like going into a builders yard and asking for 3 foot of 15mm copper pipe

I work with SI and Metric units depending on where I am, some companies like to really f**k it up, by using a bit of both, like:Pump 200 bbls at 500 lpm!!Oh, bbl= barrels, lpm= litres per minute!I used to ride my yam R1 in kph, wow, that looked fast!!

had my bikes on miles for years.  a few months ago i changed my road bike to km.  Even after a few months i still convert my speed to mph while cycling (whiles away the time).  Thinking of just putting it back to mph. Also, at my speeds having it on mph means i can always aim to get the first digit to a 2 (my excuse is that i'm on a fixed gear   )

Was miles for me, except when touring abroad and everything's in kms I've usually amended the bike computer.   However since I updated the bike computer to a VDO one with an altimeter, I've switched to kms, because I had the option of Km and metres ascended, of mile and feet ascended.  While miles are familiar, feet ascended didn't mean too much.

Kilometres every time. We are not ramblers, after all...

This is one of those things where its each to there own.  Personally I use miles as we are after all in an imperial units based country distance wise and kms mean absolutely nothing to me.  Although this does cause problems with audax routes since they are all in kms!
