I'm planning on stopping for a couple of days riding somewhere in the Burgundy / Champagne regions (en-route from Calais to Grenoble). Has anyone cycled round there? Any advice on where would be the best place to stop which has a few circular rides? Preferably with riding from a campsite - so any information on day or half day road routes would be great. It's a big area and I can't find much information on the 'web, apart from organised cycle holidays - does anyone know of any good websites for information? Any other information on maps / routes / campsites / places to eat etc much appreciated. Cheers

Hi Little Sue,we stayed at Château de l'Epervière near Macon just off the A6 it's 15 mls from the Grand Vin Route which has lot's of lovely villages to ride through and plenty of restaurants etc.The campsite has a very good restaurant and take away,it's very clean and has some super cycling roads on it's door step.We stopped there on the way back from the Alp's and intend to go back next year. You can find it on the Eurocamp web site but book direct it's cheaper.Have a great time

Was here in June some very good routes on flatish quiet roads. Further east [10miles] is Flavigny sur Ozerain if you like big hills. The campsite is 10 minutes off the motorway. Also here second week town was a bit busier but cycling to the south through Tannay was on good quiet roads. The roads to the north out via Surgy are flatish and very quiet, some good bars as well. Bit further from the motorway.

Mnay thanks guys - these suggestions are great - I'll look into them in more detail. Did either / both of you have any specific 'cycling' map, or just use an ordinary road map for selecting routes?
