After taking up road cycling nearly 6 months ago, I finally got around to taking the bike up to Dartmoor on Sunday, away from my usual East Devon routes. I absolutely loved the 36 mile route I completed, including the finishing climb from Ashburton to Haytor (via Buckland in the Moor after I missed my turn). Excellent prep for my 1st sportive – the 44 mile Cornwall Tor next week. However, with all of the steep very twisty descents, the brakes on my Specialized Allez got some heavy use. Anyway, I am going to need some new brake pads soon and don’t know much about the differences in quality – is it worth spending much extra and does anyone have any recommendations?
