wet weather gear is for when out caught in the rain...

I took one look out of the window on Sunday morning and binned the club ride without a second thought - decided it was going to be a turbo day for me.

Needless to say I didn't bother doing that either.

Go out in the winds we had here in the Midlands on Sunday and you end up looking like Elliot, the kid from ET on his bike - up and away in the clouds.

I have to say I thought twice about it, had some breakfast and read the papers. Then Mrs CB suggested that instead of looking wistfully out of the window I could get on and rub down and paint the bath panels. This coincided with a slight lull in the weather (didn't last for long) so I was off and once I was out and warmed up it wasn't that bad. Must say I didn't see anyone else our apart from a dad and his two kids. Who was it who said, 'pain is temporary, quitting is forever'?
PS don't reply I know it was His Lanceness.
It's not your destination that counts, it is the glory of the ride. (apologies to Edward Monkton)

Gave up. It was lashing down here. Might have considered it if I hadn't been soaked through for 10 straight days on my commute. Reading these sorry tales I wish I'd manned up.
