Going to finish at Dumfries on Tuesday. Is it something you can make a day of, or is it a case of turning up for half an hour, then home?

I'm going to Merrivale on Dartmoor to watch the Devon stage - I'll be taking the campervan, getting there at first light to get a good vantage point, go out for a couple of hours ride, then have a pint whilst watching some locals tackle the Merrivale KoM stage before the pros arrive at lunchtime. Hope this weather continues, should be a cracking day!
On another issue - why do the ToB organisers insist on creating KoM stages where there aren't any hills? The first two KoMs on Stage 1 are embarassing (I think hill reps on the Angliru may be sufficient preparation!) - why not just accept that it's a flat stage, perfect for sprinters - there's plenty of hills to come over the rest of the week.

Enjoy it, Peanuts - sounds like you're in for a good day!
On the KOM topic, things get significantly harder on stages six and seven when the race visits Wales and Devon. We've got an interview with Magnus Backstedt in the pipeline, where he describes stage seven (Devon) as his 'dreaded day'! Stay tuned.Last edited by timothy.john; 7th September 2012 at 1:08 PM.
