    Upgrade advice

I bought my first road bike April this year after years of MTB. I decided on the Specialized Allez sport and have enjoyed the transition from MTB to road. I would like some advice on (affordable) potential parts to upgrade, wheels, stem, seat, cassette etc
    All advice appreciated.

Im on a budget so 200 quid for tyres and wheels! any decent recommendations and I will start scouring the net. Im still getting used to climbs on the road bike so wondered if a different cassette would help. The stem for weight (although I suppose the difference is minor)

£200 quid, get some tryes Conti GP4000's some decent brake pads, upgrade to cartridge types, maybe a cassette with a lower bottom gear to help you up the hills, that yer £200, do you really need any of this so early in your road career?

Its a work in progress, something to keep me going over the winter months. I will only upgrade if I can get an absolute bargain.

Tyres first definitely. You're not going to get much in the way of wheels and tyres for £200 that will be a lot better than what you have. Michelin Pro 3's are on offer around about £21 http://www.parker-international.co.u...ding-Tyre.html at present and you will be hard pushed to get a better tyre than that at any price let alone this. As for wheels you may get a pair handbuilt with Mavic Open Pro rims and say Shimano 105 hubs for that which will be a very competent set (again look on Parker's to start with) but you may find something on fleabay: I recently sold a pair of Mavic Open Pro CD on Campagnolo Chorus hubs for £50 and they were in excellent condition. As for saddles the Charge Spoon is well liked on this forum and is cheap, I've never tried one but this is an area where you shouldn't skimp if it doesn't suit, I've always been a Sella Italia Flite man myself but you won't see much less than £100 in them. I think the best value, weight to performance stems are Deda Newton but be aware Deda come up 5mm longer than their nominal length. Cassette: I wouldn't bother upgrading a cassette unless you want a change of gear ratio but we need to know what you have first.

It's not your destination that counts, it is the glory of the ride. (apologies to Edward Monkton)
