The odd one out is a guy I see regularly on a fixie. He cruises along at no more than 22-23kph until you catch & overtake him then he literally sprints past. Must make him feel more of a man I guess?
I always get this then 2 miles further down the road I usually catch them up and find them huffing, puffing and panting slouched over their bike and I casually and comfortably silk past

This works both ways: if I'm out for a leisurely ride I sometimes lose concentration and am tootling along at 15-16mph and someone or a group comes past me. Of course this is a red rag to a bull so I immediately speed up and either jump on their wheel for a few seconds then go past or just go straight past because (almost) invariably others' pace is not a quick as mine if I'm trying and they rarely come back. This isn't making me feel more of a man (well it is really) it's just asserting my true place in the order of things after all we're all competitive to some extent or another.
It's not your destination that counts, it is the glory of the ride. (apologies to Edward Monkton)

True, true - I do the same thing at times. This particular guy does this so often it's embarrassing..

I have to admit. I love going past people who scream past you in a high gear mashing away. You get to an incline and you casually pass them with a smile and energy to burn.

its even better when you go past the battery assist bikes.... That makes you feel like a man! Haha
