It's a real problem at this time of year George, nobody wants to carry their bulky overshoes with them on every trip. But another old-timers' tip is to have a couple of bread bags hidden in your pocket or in the bottom of your rucksack. They weigh nothing and if you lose them, so what?
When the rain starts it takes thirty seconds to slip them over your feet and secure them with a couple of postman's elastic bands. Job done and total cost - nothing.
Just a note for the style conscious: Waitrose bags are so much classier than Asda's.
