    Squeak

One of those "I have a mysterious squeak" posts. My Ksyrium Elite hubs were squeaking this morning - an early casualty of my new all weathers pledge? It was spinning Ok so I decided to take a ride anyway. Quick 20 miler and back to my desk.
I had been working about an hour and there was an explosion and my front tyre was flat with half the bead out of the rim. The tyres are brand new, there was no puncture and when examined I found a 3 inch slit in the innertube.
Its all now back together with a new inner tube and the squeak has gone away. I assume I managed to overinflate them this morning and the squeaking was the inner tube pushing through to somewhere it shouldn't and moving?
Glad this didn't happen at the bottom of the 10% slope I shot down. The bead appeared to be undamaged are there any other implications I should check.
Moral: the squeaks shouldnt be ignored.

My colleague at work had a similar experience which frightened the life out of us, but we are none the wiser about the cause. Put it down to the tyre fairy.

or Inner tube inflated to too high a pressure forcing tyre off the rim

Have you examine the side wall for a cut that the tube could have herniated through?
It's not your destination that counts, it is the glory of the ride. (apologies to Edward Monkton)

No what happens is the inner tube is twixt tyre and rim, not enough for it to balloon out and be seen but trapped for an inch or two, causing the squeak, IYSWIM the tube then lets go normally when stationary, we see a few of them from time to time in the shop allways after someone has fitted new tubes or tyres incorrectely

or Tyre not correctly seated behind rim with tyre inflated to a high pressure and during a ride forces its way out twixt tyre and rim causing an almighty bang.
