Sky said wiggo will be starting but supporting a 'team mate' - my initial thoughts were froomey. Starting in Corsica sounds great - think I may have to go to watch

Will deff have to book a room with my mate on Bend 12 of Alpe D'Huez as they go past 2 times in one day.
(drove down the sarenne and its a hell of a narrow road and boy does it need to be resurfaced.
Candelight parade in Paris as well - how romantic.

Yep, the Sarenne is certainly narrow, and twisty at the top. When I went down a couple of years ago it had been liberally resurfaced ... by the local cattle.
Cowshit, gravel and 700x23s is not a good combination - especially when you are being distracted by the view.
A beautiful road but they will earn their money racing down that one.
    Looking forward to it.

Hopefully, if I can find a campsite, I will park the campervan at Bourg d'Oisans for the entire month of July. I can do this now I am semi-retired.

Hi, I'm planning my first trip to Alpe D'Huez with my son, sounds like a great one to pick! Planning on hiring a camper van in Lyon & driving up from there, I'm bit worried about how many days in advance to get a decent space on the mountain, any advice would gratefully received.

No space to park a camper van on side of the climb, however there is a large carpark at "les Marmottes" area - next to the shops and hotels at Les bergers, and another behind the hotels for the bigger jobs.
Park there in the winter whilst skiing. There is no other space up top for campers really as space is limited.
Down bottom there is a camp site on the right before the climb starts.
You can normally walk up on the morning of the race to get a spot or take the bus, but they do stop a few hours before the race comes up.

You park near to where the S is on the map - that area.
