Etape du Tour 2013 route revealed

No iconic climbs but a rolling route which will sap the legs before the two final climbs (and a steep summit finish!). The relatively short distance (130km) should tempt a few Etape novices.

Well it's a lovely area gentle pastures with cowbells filling the air. Well normally. With a few thousand riders the cowbells may be impossible to hear. I did a quick stab at the route on Google Maps http://goo.gl/maps/BzlUl It may need amending when the complete details are out. The start will be different from the pros but will likely still be on the flat around lake Annecy
[I've updated the map to reflect info from an Etape page. The location of the start is questionable at the moment]

Impressive work! Hopefully the climb of Le Semnoz will be clear of snow by the time the Etape goes up there

    From Google Street View...

I think the route goes via Quintal and hence up the other side of Mt Semnoz. I live locally. The route is beautiful, and not too hard, but many Etapers may be caught out be the steepness of the final climb. It's going to be an interesting one to pace.
