Lance Armstrong years to be left blank

I see that McQuaid is still in denial “Nonetheless, we have listened to the world’s reaction to the Lance Armstrong affair and have taken these decisive steps in response to the grave concerns raised.”

Has he totally missed the point that it is not 'The Lance Armstrong Affair' it is all those years of doping, the large number of riders that USADA report point to and the UCI themselves and the senior management in particular?

He has his scapegoat who unfortunately was his golden boy who brought in larger revenues for cycling and UCI in particular.

The UCI have never been open to feedback and have drawn up all the bridges now by removing email addresses from their website and the site has downplayed Armstrong whilst playing up efforts such as cycling in Africa. This is the biggest scandal and it should be centre stage in their efforts at the moment.

It is quite fitting that the years are left empty so that people will not forget why.
