Sean Yates and Steven De Jongh leave Sky
Well I was waiting for this, especially with Sean Yates as he spent so much time with Discovery.
He had to have known what was going on and maybe had involvement as well.
.
Have to admire Brailsford though. Sticking to his guns.
.
Good man.NOT loggin in every and each visit now.
Going to have to BITE someone soon.

Yates is no surprise, but you do wonder where this will end up for Sky - most DS's in their 40's and 50's come from that generation of riders and sadly many will have succumbed to temptation in an era dominated by EPO.
Other teams will snap up some very good coaches who know the sky methodology, especially for the grand tours

Think it would be someone very brave in the current sponsorship climate who would take them on

I can see Mr. Yates coming back from retirement in 2014 or even sooner with a different company. I like that they are trying to stick to the "spend time with family". He obviously had a friendly talk and they decided of his best move for the future. Are they so naive to think we are so stupid?

Mr 60% owns the team so no-one is going to sack him, although his sponsors may withdraw their support. As previously suggested, the majority of the coaches who were racers or already coaches in the 80's and 90's have some skeletons in their cupboards but then as Tim Kerrison has proved you don't have to have experience in cycling to succeed as a coach, many ideas are transferable, indeed it may be an advantage to be able to 'think outside the box'. I doubt Dave Brailsford had a knee jerk reaction to this and has thought through carefully the consequences of his actions, so Sky may not necessarily be shooting themselves in the foot. Time will no-doubt tell.

It's not your destination that counts, it is the glory of the ride. (apologies to Edward Monkton)
