Thanks Guys. Less complication sounds good! I had a heart attack 18 months ago so this is why a bit more exercise is required. I'm not overweight but will be taking things steady to start with so am planning routes with very gentle inclines
. Gun Hill will have to wait a while
Any other advice you would offer to a newbie would be appreciated. Still got to get this past the missus though !

Complicated !
10 on the rear and worrying about 3 on the front !!!Carbon, without it life would not exist.

Get down to your local cycling club and have a chat to them. Totally unbiased and experienced advice freely available and they want you to join. And you will gain so much from joining a club.
Don't be intimidated, they were all novices once and are keen to encourage you.
