might still have a tin of DID chain lube in the back of the shed from my motor bike days had to remember to keep an eye to it or you stank the house out

Aaaah that takes me back Bally. The most enjoyable job in motorcycle upkeep was the monthly chain bath. Duckhams used to sell grease in a flat, shallow tin that was ideal for gentle heating on the camping stove. In went a degreased chain, the hot Duckhams was so runny it penetrated every part of the links and you hung it up to drip the excess back into the cooling tin. Chain lubed, nothing wasted and the shed was nice and warm to boot. Bliss.
