In the interests of fairness, summer 2018 was our generationís summer of 76. Outstanding, Iíll have another please!
I seem to remember two quite hot summers in the early 2000s.Not as long as 1976 or 2018 but they were pretty good!
76 seemed to go on forever.I remember being sent to the stand pipe with a bucket to get water. My kids find it hard to believe that we had a major drought as little as 43 years ago!

That was a strange thing about last year's hot spell, was that there were few hosepipe bans.

That was down to all the rain we had in the winter before. Our fields were like paddy fields (no, not full of Irish people).... full of standing water most of last winter... this year hasn't been so bad.

Yeah the hottest temp ever recorded in England was 2003, remember it very well indeed.

PRS, think there were bans in some parts. Point taken, the preceding winter was super wet and set us up in good stead I believe.

Ladybower Reservoir(Peak District) was lower than I've ever seen it(you could see the remains of the villages that were flooded to create the dams) but there was no hosepipe ban here.

Wentwood reservoir levels were shockingly low last summer. Can't recall a hosepipe ban either.
