    "Chinese" aero wheels

    Morning,
anyone out there used / purchased any of the Chinese made aero wheels ??
price wise they are cheap - too cheap ??
anway if so I'm looking for a 50mm or 60mm deep carbon aero set. Are they any good stability or speed wise ??
Now I appreciate you get what you pay for but thought it worth asking as they are a fifth of the price of shimano etc equivalent.
As always all feedback appreciated !!

What wheels are you looking at? There are a lot of aero wheel sets made in the Far East some good some bad. The old adage you get what you pay for is something to consider.

There is a limit to how stable any 50-60mm section will be. This is apparently where the R&D goes with the megabucks Enves/Zipps etc.

One of the guys in our club has some carbon rims from Superstar components, seems very pleased with them and is a quick and experienced rider.

My main concern would be integrity... having seen the aftermath of a crash of a guy who's front carbon rim failed after a descent of an Alpine col. Ironically it was a Dura Ace wheel.

Thanks for the feedback, would there be much difference speed wise between - say a 35-40 rim compared to a 50 ?
or maybe a better question is what rim depth would I need to go to over & above a 24 to make a difference over 20 odd miles ??

It's a trade off between weight/handling and aero. I'd say at least 40 for real aero gains. Go deeper than 40 if you don't ride in the mountains and you don't live in a predominantly windy area.

I'm going to buy another set of aero wheels soon and for me I think 40mm depth is the right balance weight/handling/aero wise. If I was 10kg heavier id probably go 50mm

Why buy from China when Planet X sell theirs in the UK and are guaranteed.
