I agree - great rider but not a Grand Tour winner. Probably....

I hope he does but I can see him having a bad day when it really hits the fan on the high stuff. I can see him on the podium though. Be interesting to see what Landa does. Although he's no time trialist.

The Giro site suggests the stage starts at 1 pm and could be over around 4 pm if they are going for it. Can anyone tell me when the road will be closed to cars and cyclists? We hope to ride beyond the finish to the summit (about 400m more climbing) and then get back to the finish. I'm guessing we won't be able to stand on the start/finish line, and will have to be several hundred metres down stage from there? Should we take a lock for the bikes?
I'd imagine there would be a Giro roadbook on the website which will detail closure times etc.

Personally, I'd take some sort of lock, nothing elaborate but enough to deter a casual thief who might take advantage of distraction and crowds.

We've not seen Thomas ride a GT yet as leader with full support of the Team Sky machine, plus presumably he's been training as a leader rather than domestique.

Fair points. I guess we'll see. Is it telling though, that he's not gone as sole leader? They popped Landa in there, as if he's on form, he's one of the few in the field that'll be able to stay with the 50 year old Colombian if things get hectic at 2000m.

If he's this good now, what until he gets his bus pass! He's like a fine wine!

I'm not enjoying the quest coverage. The hop skip jump guy makes my skin crawl but the 2 matt's make it bearable.

The live time data they occasionally show, watts/cadence/heart rate etc is a great development hope itv4 have it for the tour.
