What NOT to eat before a ride

Well Marty had lobster and couldn't do the 100 ride.
ive just done a turbo session....about an hour after hot smoked mackerel breakfast....ooooh I could feel it rising esp during the sprints.

Coleslaw for some reason, always repeats on me.

I love my hot food, but for some weird reason, my body doesn't enjoy it as much as it used to. So curry is off the menu the night before any proper rides.

You know what they say about eating smoked fish: 'Its like bad relatives - just as you think you've got rid of them, back they come again'.

TBH Marty got food poisoning rather than eating something that is hard to digest (maybe it was prepared by the same chef as the one at the athletics championships)!

Nothing particularly affects me, I tend to have cast iron guts (albeit I have semi-permanent soft poops due to the prodigious amounts of fruit and salad I eat) but I wouldn't do any heavy exercise in less than 2 hours following a meal.
It doesn't matter how many times you fall down, its how times many you get back up that count.

Years ago I had a big, solid chunk of bread pudding for 11's at Wookey. Then up the 1:4 onto the Mendips. That lump stuck in my gut for hours. Never again

Frozen and knackered after an ascent/descent of the Col du Glandon in bad weather in the morning. So had a large pizza for lunch before ascending the Col de la Madeleine in 28c heat, which turned out to be a very bad idea.

Perhaps it would have helped if you hadn't swallowed it whole!
