More VAR, or lack of VAR controversy:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44581546

How on earth was this not reviewed?

As stonewall a penalty as the challenges on Kane against Tunisia.

VAR was used to award Iceland a penalty in their match against Nigeria earlier. The referee original turned down the appeals but the VAR people suggested it was worth reviewing. There was contact, it wasn't huge and the Icelandic striker wasn't going anywhere but the laws are the laws and it was a penalty.

It seems VAR is only looking for minor contacts in the box...rugby tackles are fine it seems.

Maybe we can stop the anti-English conspiracy theories then

Seriously, the penalty box wrestling has been ignored for a long time in football, it seems that there is still little appetite to address it. The foul against Serbia was absolutely outrageous.

    Nothing lucky about it.

    Sublime finish by Kroos!

Heartbreaking for Sweden though. They were holding on for dear life!

Their final game against Mexico should be tasty. Sweden can still go through, but they need a win and a better goal difference than Mexico, assuming Germany will beat South Korea, which they should put away with ease.

It's not an anti-English conspiracy at all. It's the inconsistencies with officiating that is the key issue here. Being English, I'm gutted that the challenges on Kane were not deemed worthy of a penalty, but I don't think they were turned down because it was England, they were turned down as a result of the laws of the game not being applied properly. Just the same as the example from the Serbia V Switzerland match.

Just need to have a level playing field for all teams.

That wasn't luck Boxie. It didn't rely on a fortuitous bounce or deflection. It was a gorgeous strike of the ball. When a goal is scored has no bearing on fortune. A lucky goal can be scored at any time of the match.

Luck is when Kroos starts his run up and his shorts fall and get tangled in his feet. He then falls over and somehow manages to rainbow flick the ball over his head. The ball heads towards the 6 yard box and as an unopposed Swedish defender is about to clear the ball, a seagull flies past. The ball hits the seagull then whacks the crossbar and then hits the back of the Swedish goalkeeper's head and into the goal.

    That's luck

Wow...really good to see England playing so well.

Panama may not be a footballing powerhouse, but England have struggled in similar games in the past but they're playing good football, being creative from set pieces and more importantly, scoring for fun!
