Well, no, neither would I! But clearly these cyclists weren't. And that was my point - a lot of cyclists don't ride considerately in these events - and because they're focused on getting a decent time (especially triathlons), they don't want to slow down.

We complain about motorists not slowing down because they're impatient.....

Agreed there are a large number of tools in cars - but that's no excuse for not getting our own house in order.

Vehicle Excise Duty isn't it, although vehicle tax is an accepted term.

I'm not sure its just about getting a time. For sure there are some who fit this picture, like the lot in the OP, but I've come across several charity rides/sportives where the participants are clearly just taking part and are not worried about times. I suspect a large number are novice cyclists who rarely venture out on their own because they lack confidence/road craft and perceive these events as safety in numbers as well as a challenge and raising money for charity. Consequently they weave all over the road with little regard or even awareness of other road users and the 'real' cyclists have to avoid them or cause more traffic obstruction overtaking them when they're in large bunches.
It doesn't matter how many times you fall down, its how times many you get back up that count.

Doh, you're right, Nick. I knew that as well, how embarrassing!

CB does raise a good point, the noobs cause just as much trouble, just served differently.
