    Ribble's e-road bike

Just got an email from Ribble advertising their new E-road bike, the Ribble Endurance SLe - the World’s lightest e-road bike range.

The email asks, who is the Endurance SLe for?

The email answers its own questions:

    The KOM rider.

The competitive KOM Chaser, just set the power setting to Red and you have 40NM of additional power boosting you up to an Elite level climber.

The end of Strava is nigh

I thought an E road bike was what they called them in Yorkshire?

It would be interesting to see if up a long sustained climb like say the Alpe D Huez or Stelvio whether a rider on an e-bike would beat a pro... my guess is the e-bike would run out of juice.

Just brought one for use on Zwift

Have to say, strava will be boiling over this as KOM's will be crushed soon by blokes on batteries not EPO.

Yep, I think the rise of e-bikes will lead to the demise of Strava. Unless they rebrand to e-Strava.

I've got no problems with e-bikes. They serve a purpose for many people, but they make it possible for many to abuse the competitive nature of segments. I know ultimately that cycling at this level is all about bettering your own achievements, and a Strava KOM or trophy is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. That said, I do enjoy checking out the leaderboards on segments I have done well on, as well as others I'm improving on and it would be nice if the efforts were genuine. I know many people will have an advantage on certain days with a headwind, favourable traffic or being part of a closed road event, and that's fine as we can all benefit from that on different days, and that is when the daily leaderboards make for interesting reading.

It just would be nice if all e-bike users uploaded their activities as e-bike rides. They have their own section and they can create their own segments.

Or just have a big E next to the time on Strava so that you know its Electric assisted.

That is what should happen. Many e-bike segments are prefixed or suffixed with an e. The trouble is, many users upload e-bike activities as regular rides.
